Avatar Frontiers of Pandora - Okul

Excited to share that I’m playing OKUL in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora!

It's been quite the ride over the past couple of years. I started with a self-tape audition in May 2021, then had a Zoom callback in September, and found out I got the role about a month later. After that, I had to dive into dialect and movement training to prep for some motion/performance capture work in Montreal. But 2022 hit us with COVID-19-related production delays.

Fast forward to 2023, I picked up where I left off, delving even deeper into dialect training and then completing my voiceovers over 5 sessions. It ended up taking roughly two years to finish everything, and I had to stay mum the whole time.

This was the project that really affirmed why I came back to Toronto in 2020 to pursue my acting dreams. This was the project that gave me all the necessary credits to become a full ACTRA union member. This was the project that made my inner child jump for so much joy. Finding solace in my imagination during my childhood not only provided me with comfort but also unknowingly equipped me for a career in acting and the incredible opportunities that have come my way.

Getting picked to play a character intentionally written as nonbinary? That's a real confidence boost, super empowering. I think my take on the character ended up being this cool mix of my own identity and quirks, plus what the writer had in mind, the direction I got, and all the visual and sound magic. It all just sort of came together beautifully.

I am full of gratitude. I would like to acknowledge and thank my agent, Emily Klama who signed me during a time of uncertainty in the industry but she saw my potential and has believed in me from the get-go. By extension, I’d like to thank my whole Amanda Rosenthal Talent Agency team (Alex, Ryan, Stephanie, Erica, and Kalinda) who work tirelessly to get me in front of various casting directors and auditions for projects that allow me to show my versatility.

I’d like to thank my sister, Christian for constantly encouraging me and for always supporting my dreams. I’d like to thank my family for their love and nurturance. I have so much appreciation for the people who have been on this journey with me, who have mentored me, who have been my audition readers, who continue to inspire me, and who constantly validate and embrace me: Charm, Zi, Rong, Tony, Chris, Monique, Em, Tanu, Maev, Cece, Sid, and August.

To Ubisoft for giving me this amazing opportunity to create, explore, and play as OKUL in this fantastical world of Pandora! What a beautiful and awe-spiring video game you’ve crafted. I am so honoured to be a part of it.

I don’t know what’s next but it honestly feels like anything is possible.
